Stock Market Update
Equities erase early gains following a softer-than-expected August nonfarm payrolls report. Investors also weighed the implications of a weaker number on inflation, which could potentially delay a rate hike. Communication services stocks led the way higher, with Google (GOOG) and Okta (OKTA) rising about 5% each. Furniture firms stumbled, with Wayfair (W) falling more than 7% after a Reuters report suggested the Trump administration might increase tariffs on foreign imports of home furnishings. Nvidia (NVDA) and Cracker Barrel (CBRL) are among the key earnings reports due out this week.
