The President has multiple avenues for sharing information with the press, and different Presidents use them to varying extents. The table below reflects those interactions, grouped into two categories: “Solo conferences” and “Joint conferences.” In a Solo conference the President interacts with reporters alone. A Joint conference includes a televised interaction with one or more foreign heads of state. In a JFK-style televised event, the President is able to answer questions submitted by the press in advance of the event.
